Qatar has been announced as the location hosting the 2022 World Cup — in their capital city of Doha.
Tons of soccer fans from all over the world are going to converge on the city, turning it into a temporary melting pot of different cultures. But the Middle East has a very specific culture of its own, especially when it comes to how people dress in public.
That’s why Qatar has organized Reflect Your Respect, a campaign organized by the Qatar Islamic Cultural Center. Its purpose is to help Western tourists learn about the modest clothing standards Qatar has in place.
Really, it’s to help keep Western heathens out of jail. An infraction of these laws can carry a prison sentence up to 6 months!!
Seriously, we don’t see how putting a bunch of rowdy soccer hooligans in a super moral, uptight society is going to go well. Aside from dressing modestly, there’s also no embracing or singing (explicit lyrics) in public.
Yeah… we have no idea how they think they’re gonna pull this off without rioting! We understand that the world will be guests in Qatar’s home, and respect is part of being a good guest… but so is being accommodating.
We hope they can set their moral standards to “lax” mode just for the duration of the World Cup at least!
