Queen Elizabeth II has some tricks up her elegant sleeve!
Last Friday, newlyweds Francis and John Canning were enjoying a post-wedding ceremony glow when they were asked to wait in the corridor of the Manchester Town Hall where the wedding was taking place.
Why?? Oh, no big deal. It’s just HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN wanted to congratulate them!!
Apparently, the couple had sent an invitation to the Palace as a light hearted wish, and were sent a kind response from a lady-in-waiting who thanked them – but declined the invite.
The sneaky Palace officials had actually made a secret plan for the Queen to attend – even making arrangements in her schedule to greet the couple in person at the wedding.
John Canning said of the surprise:
“When we had our ceremony, the staff asked us to wait for a moment in the corridor and just a few minutes later the Queen arrived. She knew both our names and apparently we had been especially added to her rota…It was a lovely present from them to us, one of the best presents you could wish for.”
After congratulating the beaming couple, HRH – joined by Prince Philip – stayed a while chatting and taking pictures with guests.
