R. Kelly's Crisis Manager Steps Down After Saying He Would 'Absolutely Not' Leave His Daughter With An Accused Pedophile

r kelly's crisis manager leaves job amid continued legal drama

More people continue to exit R. Kelly‘s corner during his ongoing legal charges, and we’re not surprised!

The disgraced star’s crisis manager, Darrell Johnson, is stepping down from his role after making damaging, but very telling, comments in an interview with Gayle King on Monday morning.

The CBS This Morning anchor, who previously interviewed the 52-year-old musician, noted Johnson has a 20-year-old daughter. Before she could finish asking him “would you allow her to be alone with..,” Johnson interrupted “absolutely not.”

No surprise there!

King added:

“R. Kelly?”

He clarified:

“I would not leave my daughter with anyone who’s accused of pedophilia.”

When further questioned by King about whether or not he would leave her specifically with Kelly, he reiterated:

“I would not leave my daughter with anyone that’s accused of being a pedophile. I would not.”

When asked by King to explain how many of the women accusing the embattled artist have such similar stories despite his maintained innocence, Darrell replied:

“They’ve indicted Mr. Kelly. He’s in jail right now. He will have his day in court. And they’ll have to bring the evidence. And that’s what has to be done. If the evidence stick, Mr. Kelly will spend the rest of his life in the penitentiary.”

As for Kelly’s mental state, Darrell divulged the I Believe I Can Fly singer is:

“A mess right now… he’s scared, he’s isolated.”

Additionally, he can only “assume” Kelly is on suicide watch, explaining:

“Nobody wants to be locked down 24 hours, no TV. He can’t read and write, so he can’t read a book. It’s almost as if he’s already been — a jury has convicted him.”

The Ignition singer is due to appear in federal court next month to face 13 sex crime charges from prosecutors, which he has pled not guilty to.

Contrary to recent reports from family members that Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary “may have seen the handwriting on the wall” AND even have a suicide pact in place following R. Kelly’s most recent arrest, Johnson said they are “doing what they want to do,” and hasn’t seen anything which would cause suspicion otherwise.

Shortly after the interview aired on Monday, Johnson walked back on his statements made to Gayle, announcing his resignation via a statement to USA Today:

“I should have worded it better. I would leave my daughter with Kelly because I do not believe he is a pedophile. This has nothing to do with Mr. Kelly it’s for my (own) person(al) reasons.”
