Since its release, Rachel Platten‘s Fight Song has been an enduring anthem for overcoming adversity.
And in the wake of the senseless shooting at Orlando’s gay club Pulse that killed 49 people and injured dozens, the inspirational track has taken on an even more meaningful message.

On Friday, the singer released an acoustic version of the successful single, announcing that all proceeds will be donated to the National Compassion Fund.
This contribution is legit, since the NCF’s website explains that all of the funds they get are given directly to the victims, and it works closely with Equality Florida, to make sure that the distribution of donations is “fair and transparent.”
The musician took to Instagram to make the announcement, posting:
The 35-year-old also explained to Entertainment Weekly why she decided to give back this way following the terrible tragedy, saying:
“Like the rest of the world, I was horrified by what happened in Orlando and I wanted to somehow make the tiniest bit of difference if I could. I got to do a tribute to the victims of the Orlando shooting at the Logo TV Trailblazer Awards last week, and I loved getting to perform Fight Song with cellos and decided to release that version of it today.”
We’re so glad Miz Platten is doing her part to help everyone who was affected by this horrific act of violence.
