Amanda Knox made it out of Italy and back to the U.S. back in 2011. But her Italian ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, stayed behind in his home country.
But after being convicted of murdering Meredith Kercher yet again yesterday, Raffaele finally tried to flee!
Italian police stopped Sollecito near the border of Austria and Slovenia early Friday morning. Authorities believe he was trying to leave the country, something he’s not allowed to do during his legal proceedings and especially not now that he’s been found guilty for a second time.
A judge sentenced Knox to 28 years in prison yesterday; Sollecito to 25.
Amanda will need to be extradited back to Italy in order to get her behind bars there. Sollecito however can only hope that the Italian Supreme Court dismisses their case for a second time.
Otherwise, he’ll be locked up, with no where to run to.
Stay tuned for more deets as they unfold!
