Reese Witherspoon Had Jury Duty After Legally Blonde -- & She Was Asked To Be Foreman For The Most 'Troubling' Reason!

Reese Witherspoon Recalls ‘Troubling’ Way She Became Foreman On Jury Duty After Legally Blonde!

Elle Woods, reporting for jury duty!

Reese Witherspoon just shared the most hilarious story of her attending jury duty! Yes, really! On Friday’s episode of The Graham Norton Show, the 48-year-old recalled a time she got called in for jury duty a few years after starring in Legally Blonde. She said:

“Well listen, I did not want to do jury duty. But I remember it was after Legally Blonde. It was probably like seven years after Legally Blonde, I got called for jury duty and it was in Beverly Hills.”

Naturally, she thought there was no way she was going to be selected for the case, she continued:

“I thought, ‘Surely they’re not gonna pick me.’ They picked me for a long trial, y’all. It was probably two weeks. I was on the jury.”

Guest Will Ferrell then interrupted to tease:

“That’s not that long. […] I thought you were going to say a month.”

Hah!

But to Reese, it was a big commitment:

“No listen, it was two solid weeks every day going in. And I was watching it and it was a dog bite case but it was very clear, I was very invested in this case.”

Once it was time for the jury to start deliberations, they needed to select a foreman, AKA the spokesperson for the group. To her shock, everyone thought Reese should do it, she dished:

“We went every day and then we went to deliberation and so at the very end they say, ‘Okay, well somebody in this group has to be the foreman’ and they all unanimously are like, ‘Her.’ Me? Me?!”

She didn’t understand why they were so determined to have her fill the role — until they said they picked her because “you went to law school.” LMFAO! The Big Little Lies alum recalled:

“I was like, ‘Y’all this is really upsetting. I definitely did not go to law school, I didn’t finish college.’ I played a lawyer in a movie once but they fully made me the foreman and I started realizing people don’t know much about the law.”

Oof!

She then gave an impassioned plea to anyone up for jury duty, telling them to “please do it” because “some bad stuff goes down there.” In her particular case, she said there were many people on the jury who believed the defendant was guilty simply because they didn’t like “the way she looked,” which she thought was “very troubling.” Jeez.
