Former Denver Bronco Larry Kaminski, who is also one of the retired NFL players suing the league for concealing the effects of concussions on the brain, has decided to donate his brain to science after his death.
The former football all-star suffers from severe depression, which doctors are attributing to concussions Larry sustained during his career.
A family member has shared that the 66-year-old has pledged, along with other former players including Zach Thomas, Mike Haynes and Kyle Turley, to donate his brain to the Boston University School of Medicine Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy.
They hope their donation will help future football players learn about the long term affects of concussions.
It’s so sad to think that these men’s brains have been damaged so much by a sport they loved.
Hopefully their sacrifice does not go in vain and their donated brains will not only help scientists discover how to help players suffering from similar conditions, but help current players avoid suffering the same fate.
