The Grand Dame could be heading to prison for a few years soon.
For those who don’t know, Karen Huger was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Maryland back on March 19. Law enforcement claimed to TMZ at the time that The Real Housewives of Potomac star was driving her 2017 Maserati in an “aggressive manner” and fast before crossing the median and hitting multiple street signs. No one was, thankfully, injured during the collision. However, Karen found herself in trouble with the law.

The 61-year-old reality star was hit with multiple charges, including driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life, and person, recklessly driving a vehicle in wanton and willful disregard for the safety of persons and property, failure to control vehicle speed on the highway to avoid a collision, driving a vehicle in excess of reasonable and prudent speed on the highway, driving a vehicle on the highway with suspended registration, and failure to notify administration of change of address within 30 days.
Whoa…
Karen later explained to TMZ that she met a friend for dinner on the night of the accident and discussed “some very emotionally sensitive topics,” including the passing of her “beloved” mom since Mother’s Day was coming up. The television personality said she “was crying” on the way home, “saw a car heading right for” her, and “swerved to avoid the head-on collision.” That resulted in her hitting the median and several street signs.
Now, Karen has received a verdict in her case. She was found GUILTY on all charges on Wednesday — except for the charge of reckless driving. And it’s not hard to see why the trial ended that way! Bodycam footage and eyewitness accounts proved she was intoxicated on the night of her accident.
On the first day in court on Tuesday, Fox 5 DC reported that one witness claimed her car smelled like alcohol. A volunteer EMT at the scene said Karen “swayed” while trying to get into an ambulance. Once inside, she allegedly told first responders to “f**k off” and “go f**k yourselves” multiple times. But the final nail in the coffin for Karen? The bodycam footage from the night of the incident.
In one video, which was released on Thursday, an officer questions Karen if she remembers the accident as her husband Ray Huger attempted to find her driver’s license. However, the Bravoleb wasn’t coughing up any details. Although she remembered the crash, she told the cop that “nothing really” happened when pressed for more information. Her hubby did mention that “somebody ran [her] off the road,” to which Karen agreed but couldn’t remember what the vehicle looked like. From there, the officer repeatedly asked her “how much” she had to drink before the accident. Karen tried to dodge the question, telling him to “talk to my husband.” However, Ray admitted she most likely “had a couple of beers!”
“I’m just saying, they’re assuming that you had more than you should have and I’m assuming you know, you had a couple of beers or something like that.”
And Karen’s response? She confessed! She said:
“Yes, that’s all I had.”
And Karen continued to dig herself into a hole after being placed into handcuffs. Another video showed the cop opening up the police car as she says:
“You know I hate you, right? Everybody’s going to hate you by the way. Do you know who I am?”
This is giving the same vibes as when Reese Witherspoon was arrested in 2013! When Karen tried to get out of the car, she stumbled and screamed. And dropped this:
“Oh God. I’m lit.”
Oh, Karen…
It doesn’t matter if it was only “a couple of beers.” You never should get behind the wheel of a car after drinking. It’s 2024. There are so many other options to get home after a night out. Call an Uber, call a friend, or call your partner. Do something other than drive yourself intoxicated! No excuses! Watch the bodycam footage below:

Not good. Karen is now set to be sentenced on January 29. She faces up to 2 years in prison. However, it sounds like she is not going down without a fight. Her attorney, A. Scott Bolden, told People they plan to appeal the verdict:
“Although we are disappointed in the jury’s verdict, we of course respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case. We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger’s right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time.”
There is no getting out of this one, Karen! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments.
