Ricky Gervais is still defending himself against haters who weren’t down with his routine at the Golden Globes Sunday, including the HFPA. He won’t shut up about it really, but to his credit, no one else can either.
Tonight, on Piers Morgan Tonight, he talks more about the situation and makes no apologies for his material on the awards show. He told Piers:
“It’s not my job to worry about what people think of me, that’s the job of a politician,” he says. “I don’t care what people think of me…They hired me for a job, and if they didn’t want me, they shouldn’t have hired me.”
Exactly. The HFPA said the same kind of thing, along the lines of “you never know what to expect with Ricky.” So let’s all just get over it now, huh? Come to terms with him having a potty mouth while Ricky comes to terms with never being asked back again to host.
