When 16-year-old Alexis Carter found out she was having a Hollywood-themed prom, there was only one fashion icon she wanted to emulate – Rihanna.
So she enlisted the help of a family friend to craft a homemade version of the green jumpsuit RiRi wore to the 2010 Echo Awards.
She couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out; she even shared pics of it on Twitter, writing:
Turning heads , catching eyes , breaking necks 👐 anit no looking past me . pic.twitter.com/r1RV2nLO9t

Unfortunately, when Rihanna saw it she didn’t have kind words to say. Instead she tweeted:

Clearly Bad Girl RiRi did NOT find the imitation flattering. Instead she seemed to be pointing out that Alexis didn’t measure up to the original! But she didn’t stop there! She also tweeted:

Apparently Rihanna’s 35 million followers thought it was pretty funny too, as it didn’t take long for the hashtag #PromBat to trend as people all over began cyberbullying Alexis.
It all hurt, but none worse than from her idol. Alexis said:
“I was very offended. Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing. The poses was different but the outfit wasn’t… She doesn’t love her fans like she says she does.”
Maybe Rihanna didn’t mean it to be cruel; maybe she was just having a bit of fun. But when your tweets are reaching so many people, you have a bit more responsibility than that.
What do U think?
