Does Kevin Spacey Deserve A Second Chance? Robin Wright Tries To Answer…

Frankly, she should have expected this kind of hardball question when she became the president…

Robin Wright was asked in a Net-A-Porter interview released over the weekend about Kevin Spacey, and she tried to be as political as possible with her answers.

She said she has not reached out to him and when asked if she feels sorry for him, she spoke about feeling sorry for other people whose worst moments are publicized due to their fame.

Then the $64,000 question came: does she believe her former House of Cards costar deserves a second chance at a career? She said:

“I don’t know how to comment on that, I really don’t. I believe every human being has the ability to reform. Has the ability to reform. In that sense, second chances, or whatever you are going to call it – absolutely, I believe in that. It’s called growth.”

Hmm. That was very skillfully worded, but it sounds like she’s saying Spacey might deserve a second chance at some point.

On the one hand, what she’s saying makes sense. The reason we have prisons is not to have prisoners but to have ex-convicts, right? The fact we don’t simply shoot all violent criminals out into space means we as a society believe in second chances. The way she put it made it difficult to disagree.

On the other hand, aren’t we talking about a career second chance here? Does anyone deserve to be a movie star if they can’t even be a decent human being?

That’s a different question.

Now, Perezcious readers… How would YOU answer??
