Does Ryan Reynolds take us for fools??
The Deadpool star is opening up about how differently his kids are growing up than he and Blake Lively did… Except, like, are their experiences REALLY that different? In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Friday, the 48-year-old spoke about his and Blake’s decision to largely keep their four children, including daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 5, and son Olin, 1, out of the public eye. He told the outlet:
“We try to give them as normal a life as possible. I try not to impose upon them the difference in their childhood to my childhood or my wife’s childhood.”

Here we go… Buckle up for some nepo baby denial! He continued:
“We both grew up very working class, and I remember when they were very young, I used to say or think, like, ‘Oh God, I would never have had a gift like this when I was a kid,’ or, ‘I never would’ve had this luxury of getting takeout,’ or whatever. Then I realized that that’s not really their bag of rocks to carry.”
Um, excuse us? Did he really just say Blake grew up working class? Her dad is literally the late Ernie Lively… A man who built a sprawling acting career over nearly 50 years! He’s been in things like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Man in the Moon, Turner & Hooch, The Dukes of Hazzard, and SO much more!
As for her mom Elaine, she was also in the biz — mostly as a talent manager — but also dipped her toe in entertainment in the 1993 video game Return to Zork. OH, and both Blake’s sisters Robyn and Lori also appeared in that with their mom! As well as a ton of other projects, including the 1989 cult classic Teen Witch for Robyn.
So they might not have been mega millionaires like Ryan and Blake are now with all that Marvel money, but they were in the same industry!
In his interview, Ryan spoke more about their kids:
“They’re already very much in touch with gratitude and understanding the world enough to have a strong sense of empathy. Those are the things that I would think [would indicate] we’re doing an OK job — if our kids can empathize with other people and other kids. But yes, it’s different. When I was a kid, you would just suck it up, get out of the house and be back by sundown, which I just can’t even imagine now.”
We’re certainly living in a different world than the one he grew up in, but don’t be so quick to forget your wife’s roots, dude. It’s giving Victoria Beckham! LOLz!
