It’s a tough day to be a country music fan…
We’ve learned singer Sam Hunt was arrested Thursday morning for driving under the influence. According to local reports, the Body Like A Back Road crooner was booked for allegedly driving the wrong way down a road in East Nashville while drunk.

It all started when Metro Nashville Police Department officers responded to a call that a reckless driver was allegedly swerving in and out of the lane of Ellington Parkway. When they arrived on the scene, law enforcement reportedly found an open container in the 34-year-old’s car.
Apparently, Sam looked pretty worse for wear during the traffic stop which surely did not help his case. Investigators say Hunt had bloodshot eyes, smelled like alcohol, and supposedly tried to offer up his credit card when asked to show his driver’s license.
Oh no…
After giving him a sobriety test, the cops determined the singer had a blood alcohol content of .173. BTW, the legal limit in Tennessee is .08, which means he was WAY over the state’s maximum.
He’s lucky he didn’t hurt anyone!! Seriously.
Per RadarOnline.com, Hunt was released from jail around 9:00 A.M. local time this morning on a $2,500 bond. His court date has been set for January 17, 2020.
What a scary and, honestly, stupid situation to be in! The country artist could’ve seriously injured himself or anyone else on the road for that matter. We’re glad to hear things didn’t turn out any worse than they did.
Hopefully, Sam can use this time before his hearing to reflect on making much better personal choices.
We’ll be expecting him to make a public statement… once he sobers up. SMH.

The singer-songwriter hails from Cedartown, Georgia and is signed to MCA Records. He’s been married to his wife Hannah Lee Fowler since 2017. Ironically enough, Hunt has an old hit song called Drinkin’ Too Much, but most recently stepped back into the spotlight with his latest single, Kinfolk.
