Savannah Guthrie is back!
The journalist is back at the anchor desk for the first time since her beloved mother Nancy Guthrie was discovered missing on February 1. The 54-year-old kicked off the show alongside her co-anchor Craig Melvin, saying after highlighting the top news of the day:
“Pretty shot of the sun coming up. Good morning, welcome to Today on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us, and it’s good to be home.”
Holding her hand, Craig agreed:
“Yes, it’s good to have you back at home.”
As a nod to her mom, Savannah wore a yellow dress for the occasion, a color that has become a symbol of hope and support during the search for Nancy. Craig matched her with a yellow tie and ribbon pin.

Addressing the challenges ahead, Savannah candidly said:
“Well, here we go, ready or not. Let’s do the news.”

Such strength she has to carry on while the grief of her mother’s apparent kidnapping remains so pressing on her heart.
Later during the show, Craig pointed out the crowd gathered in the plaza, to which Savannah expressed:
“Some beautiful signs out there. I’m excited to see them, give them all a hug. I’ve been really feeling the love so much.”
In the second hour, she actually went outside to thank the supportive fans. Brought to tears while holding Jenna Bush Hager‘s hand, Savannah thanked everyone for their prayers and letters while admiring yellow pins and signs with her mom’s photo on them. The TV personality shared:
“You guys have been so beautiful. I’ve received so many letters, so much kindness to me and my whole family. We feel it. We feel your prayers.”
What a special moment. Watch (below):
Gosh… Where are the tissues?? Such a moving return. We cannot imagine how difficult it is to return to normal life while there’s still so much left unanswered about what happened to her dear 84-year-old mother, but we hope this sense of normalcy allows her to continue to heal after this unfathomable tragedy. Sending her lots of love today!
