Sean Connery Hunkers Down In The Bahamas & 'The Notebook' Mansion Survives In South Carolina During Hurricane Dorian

Sean Connery says he’s lucky to have escaped Hurricane Dorian without a scratch after it wreaked havoc in the Bahamas over the past several days.

The 89-year-old and his wife Micheline Roquebrune hunkered down in their home on the island of New Providence, which was largely avoided by the storm other than heavy winds, torrential rain, and some fallen trees.

The former 007 told the Daily Mail:

“We are both fine. We were lucky compared to many others and the damage here was not great. We had been prepared for the storm, everything was ready in advance – we weren’t taking any chances and knew what to do.”

Luckily, the house famous from The Notebook also weathered through the storm, despite being in the path of the hurricane’s fury in Charleston, South Carolina.

TMZ reports the mansion on the historic Boone Hall Plantation, which served as Allie’s parent’s summer home in the 2004 movie, withstood the powerful storm aside from some debris tossed around on the property.

Love survives!

While Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams may have made the house famous as Noah and Allie, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively had their IRL love story come true when they secretly tied the knot there back in 2012.

Although Connery and his wife have hurricane-experienced staff at their mansion who would have helped them prepare for the storm, and the film-famous home survived in South Carolina, not all were as lucky to remain unharmed.

Currently, volunteers continue to search neighborhoods as hundreds still remain missing, many buried under rubble on Grand Bahama and the Abaco Islands. As of writing, the death toll is at 43, but officials believe it will continue to rise.

In an interview with CNN on Friday, Prime Minister Hubert Minnis shared that aid from the US likely helped lower the death toll:

“From day one, the United States was in our territory assisting us with all of our needs. Had it not been for the United States we would not have been advanced this far in the entire process. Even though our death numbers, we expect they [will] increase, had the United States not come in quickly … our death numbers would be even more.”

He continued, describing a phone call with President Donald Trump:

“He expressed condolence to the entire Bahamian populace and that the United States would be available and would be there to assist us.”

We’re sending our thoughts to all who have been affected by the storm.
