Aspyn Ovard doesn’t give a damn what anyone has to say about her being cast on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives spin-off!
In case you missed it, Hulu announced last month that they are launching a new show based on the hit series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, with a cast of recognizable faces! In addition to Aspyn, we have Bobbi Althoff, Avery Woods, Salomé Andrea, McCall DaPron, Chandler Higginson, Ashleigh Pease, and Madison Fisher.
The group is full of influencers with kids, so they fit the MomTok mold! However, notably not all of them are married or Mormon, including Aspyn! The social media personality, who gained fame on YouTube for her family content with her ex-husband Parker Ferris, previously revealed she cut ties with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after years of growing up in the religion because she later realized she wasn’t “aligned” with many of the conservative values.

You may ask then why she is on a show called The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County if she is neither married nor Mormon? It doesn’t make any sense to some, that’s for sure! However, Aspyn doesn’t care what people think! She addressed the backlash to the casting in a video posted to YouTube on Monday, saying:
“The spin-off has been very similar to the reaction that the first show got, that people were criticizing the word Mormon or even wife. Obviously, I’m not a wife. I’m not married. [But] there are a lot of Mormon girls in the cast. I think there’s only two of us that are not married.”
Also, don’t forget that several of the OG Mormon Wives also were not Mormon or married. Even Taylor Frankie Paul recently parted ways with the church following her domestic violence scandal. It is no different, and people ended up loving them regardless of their relationship or religious status! Give the new women a chance before ripping them apart online! Yeesh!
Aspyn took a moment to remind her followers that she was baptized into the Mormon church when she was 9 years old and went on missions, though. She continued:
“I have so many ties to Mormonism from growing up in Utah, getting married young and just being surrounded by that culture. I’ve talked about Utah culture and how it has affected me and shaped my life in so many ways, even as someone who was not Mormon.”
Regardless, she feels she still has “enough ties to” Mormonism to justify her spot on the show:
“I can’t disagree that something like Secret Lives of OC Wives or OC Influencers would have maybe been a title that makes more sense. But not even all the girls are influencers. I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t really care. I definitely feel like I have enough ties to Mormons.”
So there! LOLz!
We’ll see if Aspyn and the new group can bring on the drama and entertainment like the OGs! Watch Aspyn’s video (below):
