What really went down with the cereal drama in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives? Whitney Leavitt is spilling the tea!
As viewers know, she and Demi Engemann butted heads a lot during the first season. One of their many disagreements involved none other than Fruity Pebbles. Yes, you read that right.
Here is what happened.
Demi opened up to Whitney and other girls about her and her husband Bret Engemann’s bedroom activities involving the colorful cereal during a girls’ trip to California — off-camera.
By doing so NOT on film, she clearly did not want these details about her sex life out in the world, hence why she told her pals in private. However, Whitney either didn’t understand that memo or just didn’t care! She blabbed about it, betraying her friend’s confidence, on camera while getting ready with Mayci Neely and Mikayla Matthews for Demi’s Galentine’s party. Whitney even tried to reenact it by squatting over Mayci’s face while she was lying down on her back on the floor!

To make matters worse, she then gifted Demi a box filled with fruity pebbles at the bash. While Whitney laughed at the gag gift, Demi didn’t find it funny in the slightest. You could see on her face how upset she was over it! She explained in a confessional:
“I laid out the intention clear as day to all of the girls that this was not a trashy bachelorette party. This specific thing that she was trying to make light of and make a joke was something that was completely intimate and off the table, that was between Brett and I. We swore to each other that we would never tell a soul about that. I just think it’s below the belt.”
Whitney then became “mad” at Demi for being pissed at her over the gift. We’re not kidding. She tried to play the victim and claimed she felt “ambushed” afterward! But if anyone should be feeling ambushed about this, it’s Demi! She was the one who was blindsided by the prank present… or was she? Now, according to Whitney, Demi knew about it all along! Huh?!
During an interview on The Squeeze podcast Wednesday, the reality star told hosts Tay and Taylor Lautner that she gave Demi a heads up about the Fruity Pebbles gift! She explained:
“I had called Demi ahead of time asking if it was Ok because I knew that was a sensitive and very private sexual innuendo between their relationship. I didn’t want to cross a boundary. So I called her and I asked her and they thought it was funny her and her husband.”
With that in mind, Whitney said she became “upset” when Demi acted like she was “offended” by the present:
“The reason I’m upset in that episode is because she reacted in a way that she was offended so I had felt sabotaged. I was gutting in my head like, ‘Oh my god was this a decision you made to make me look bad on purpose? So that’s why you see that reaction. It wasn’t because she was upset. Oh my gosh, no. If I’d given someone a gift and they were genuinely upset about it, I would feel embarrassed but so horrible that I had done that but that’s why I was upset in that episode.”
Hmm…
Let’s say Whitney really did call and ask the couple. Did she mention she got approval from Demi and Bret beforehand on camera after the party drama, and the producers left it out? Did she not say on the phone she was giving the gift during the bash, and the couple thought it was happening another time? Is there a chance Whitney is lying? Or was Demi actually dishonest this entire time? We have so many questions here.
Unfortunately, Whitney didn’t go into any more detail re: PebbleGate. Demi hasn’t weighed in either…. yet! But if you ask us, we have a feeling there is a lot more to the story here. From what we saw, unless Demi is secretly a great actress, she was genuinely upset and shocked by the gift. Almost like she had no idea about it. Watch the podcast interview (below):
