Selena Gomez Reveals The Whole Story Of Benny Blanco's Surprise Proposal - Which She Nearly Passed On!

Selena Gomez is finally telling the FULL story of Benny Blanco‘s proposal! And how she very nearly bailed on the whole thing!

On The Tonight Show Thursday night, Selly G and her fiancé sat down and answered the question we’ve all been asking: what was the proposal like?! Host Jimmy Fallon asked the singer if she knew the proposal was coming — to which she confirmed it was a total surprise:

“Not at all because we had to do a lot of promo for the album. I woke up and I was very confused on what was happening on where we were going because it seemed kind of far. So I’m kind of a little grumpy.”

Ha! Poor Benny, we bet he was worried the bad mood would put a damper on things!

The place the record producer was planning to pop the question was a promo shoot for their new album, I Said I Love You First. And the Calm Down songstress said she was not in the mood for doing the photoshoot that day:

“I really am tired … this is too far.”

This put a panic in Benny, whose plans were SO CLOSE to being realized! He said:

“Of course, I was freaking out! she almost didn’t even come! … Getting engaged to someone is the craziest thing in the world. Right before you’re gonna tell someone you’re gonna be married to someone forever, you’re like, ‘Show me how good you can lie to me.'”

LOLz!! He’s got a point!

Benny even said keeping the proposal a secret was the hardest thing he’s ever done:

“I tell her everything! So it was just … she was upset with me because the day before I was making bad lies … It was the scariest week of my life!”

Jimmy asked if even with all the complications if the proposal went down “without a hitch”, but that wasn’t the case. The 37-year-old said he “forgot everything”. Oh no!

With the proposal out of the way, though, the couple said they’re taking a break instead of jumping right into wedding planning. Benny explained:
