Selling Sunset Newbie Alanna Gold Apologizes After Residents Called Her Out For Claiming She Owned Pioneertown

She’s a newbie on Selling Sunset — but she’s already found herself at the center of controversy!

During Season 8 of the Netflix show, which premiered on Friday, Alanna Gold claimed she and her husband, Adam Gold, owned Pioneertown — a fully functioning old west town in San Bernardino County, California that’s also a movie set. The real estate agent told co-star Bre Tiesi:

“I own a little Western town in the desert, so it’s called Pioneertown.”

Wow! A whole town! She must be doing well, right?

Alanna doubled down in an interview with People on Thursday. She explained she and Adam “always knew we wanted to own a piece of property out there or be a part of the community somehow.” So, when the couple saw a portion of the town was available for sale in 2020, they did not hesitate to snatch it up! She noted they thought it was a great “opportunity to really make it vibrant again” as well as “preserve a piece of history.”

Plus, in the long run, it made for an interesting storyline for her on Selling Sunset! She took several of her co-stars on a girls’ trip to Pioneertown. And, of course, some drama happened as Nicole Young started to spread the rumor that Emma Hernan had an affair with a married man! Yikes! But there’s more that came out of her Pioneertown plotline! It also caused an uproar with the residents!

After the episodes dropped last week, the locals slammed Alanna for claiming she owned the entire town — and they wanted an apology! A post shared to the Pioneertown Gazette‘s Instagram account on Tuesday began with the banner headline (written like an old timey newspaper, naturally):

Selling Sunset‘s Alanna Gold Does Not ‘Own Pioneertown'”

Inside, it read:

“The people of Pioneertown kindly request an apology from Selling Sunset & Alanna Gold. The baseless claims by Selling Sunset’s Alanna Gold that she ‘owns Pioneertown’ undermines 78 years of internationally celebrated film, arts and cultural history. These claims belittle generations of artists, neighbors, nature lovers, community members, musicians, small business owners and otherwise magnificent people of Pioneertown.”

Wait, so she doesn’t really own the town?? Not even close, apparently.

The statement went on to say that more than 400 residents live in the town, which “is privately owned by more than 100 independent parties.” Alanna “has a small minority non-controlling interest in an entity that owns six of thirty five parcels in the Mane Street area, constituting less than 1% of Pioneertown’s total 640 acres.” ONE PERCENT?? OMG, that’s a lot of rounding up! The Gazette concluded:

“The claim that she owns the ‘entire town’ is verifiably false.”

Damn! Alanna really ticked off the town! Check out the post (below):

Well, the residents of Pioneertown got their wish. The reality star learned of their anger at her for falsely saying she owned the whole town and issued an apology to People that same day. She expressed:

“I want to reach out to personally say I am so deeply sorry for the confusion I have caused. I certainly do not own Pioneertown, I never should have said that and I apologize for doing so. I want you to know that I did not mean any harm, I absolutely love Pioneertown and I simply got too excited talking about it.”

Alanna noted her first date and wedding with her husband were in the town — so obviously it holds a very special place in her heart. But obviously that isn’t OWNERSHIP. So she is now working to “correct the record”:

“We wanted to become part of the community, so we invested in a home and other properties there. Again, I am so sorry to the people of Pioneertown, I would never want to disrespect the town’s history or any of the people who make it such a wonderful place.”

Whelp, the next town function is going to be awkward for Alanna! Thoughts on the drama, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments!
