Mary Fitzgerald shared an update on her difficult fertility journey.
Last year the 43-year-old reality star — who is a mom to 28-year-old son Austin — was so happy after getting pregnant on her honeymoon in Bali with husband Romain Bonnet. Unfortunately, in March 2023 she revealed she suffered a devastating septic miscarriage. According to the Mayo Clinic, a septic miscarriage happens when a woman develops an infection in the uterus — an infection whose cause Mary required surgery to remove. Sadly, a year later, the reality star needs to undergo another operation.

The Selling Sunset star revealed to Us Weekly at a Los Angeles party for her and Romain’s Bella Magazine cover on Tuesday she plans to do another round of in vitro fertilization. Unfortunately she still needs to have uterine surgery beforehand:
“I have had an MRI scan, a full body scan and I have to have a surgery on my uterus. It’s gonna be an interesting process. It’s not going to be as easy as we thought it would.”
Oh no! Despite her fertility journey becoming more “complicated,” Mary seems to have accepted the setbacks the couple has faced and is trying to remain positive. She insisted to the outlet she was “OK” with what was happening, saying:
“I’ve had plenty of time to process and, in the beginning, it wasn’t easy. I think that I’ve really taken a stance, and it’s become a passion of mine to raise awareness for women’s issues. I think it’s so common now. So, I’m being very forward on that front. But when it comes to myself, there’s not a lot I can do about it. Whatever happens, happens, but in the meantime, I’m going to try to help other women.”
Fortunately, Mary has her supportive hubby by her side through this process. He told Us he’s not putting “any pressure” on the real estate agent and just going with the flow:
“Obviously, she has to take care of herself and then make sure that everything is good. I don’t want to put any pressure. Obviously, if it happens, that would be great. … We’re gonna see how it goes.”
We’re sending so much love and support to Mary during this time! Hopefully, her surgery and recovery go well! Reactions to the news, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments below.
