Dream Act Gets Reintroduced

The Dream Act is back.

Senate Democrats are reintroducing the bill which will allow young people brought to the US illegally to apply for citizenship and receive a college education as well as apply to join the military.

The bill would qualify for those under 15 years old who have been in the US for at least five years and present “good moral character.” They’ll also need to finish high school or get a G.E.D. and complete either two years of college or military service.

Of course the bill also has its Republicans opponents which argue the bill constitutes amnesty and that Congress should first focus on border control.

Supporters of the bill argue that young children had no say in entering the country illegally and should be allowed to contribute to the military and work force as young, educated individuals.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but hopefully the kids get a chance!
