Serena Williams has been in a bit of hot water lately after making some horribly offensive comments about the Steubenville rape victim, but now she’s doing everything she can to try and make things right!
According to an interview she did with Rolling Stone, the tennis superstar put some of the blame on the young girl and said “she shouldn’t have put herself in that position.”
Serena went on to release an apology (sort of), and now she’s taken it a step further by meeting face to face with the young girl’s family, and according to their attorney Bob Fitzsimmons, things went REALLY well!
He says:
“Serena was very nice, very sincere and it was a very well-received conversation among two women and a young lady.”
He went on to say:
“We are fans of Serena and will continue rooting for many more championships but more importantly watching her advance the cause of rape victims who are never to blame.”
While Serena may not have written up the most sincere apology, we’re glad she was able to work things out with the family face to face!
Hopefully now she can put this ugly incident behind her and focus on Wimbeldon, and maybe next time she’ll be a little more careful about what she says in front of a reporter! LOLz!
