Serena Williams may have lost the Wimbledon women’s singles final on Saturday afternoon to Romanian tennis star Simona Halep (6-2, 6-2), but the 37-year-old still has at least one thing going for her: Meghan Markle‘s friendship!
Yes, Serena was in a surprisingly jovial mood despite going down in the final on the legendary court on Saturday, and she spoke to reporters afterwards about what it was like to have Markle and Kate Middleton there cheering her on from the stands throughout the match!

Speaking to the media after her defeat in the championship, the 37-year-old tennis legend got real about her royal fam-bam friend, saying that having Meghan’s support out there “is great,” and adding more (below):
“She’s such a great friend and a great person as well. And always positive, no matter what. It’s so good to have people like that, just to know. She is such a fan of the sport. She too is happy for Simona. She saw that she played unbelievably, and that’s just the kind of person that she is.”
Awww!! That’s too cute!
Of course, it was a big day out at Wimbledon — not just for Williams and the eventual winner, Halep, but also for Meghan, Kate, and Pippa Middleton, all of whom enjoyed quite the day of fun out in the sun while celebrating the one-year anniversary of their first-ever joint outing to Wimbledon without the husbands.
