Serena Williams Responds To Claims She's Been Bleaching Her Skin!

Serena Williams is firing back at the “haters!”

Last month, the tennis player posted a video of herself and her husband, Alexis Ohanian. Fans then began to speculate she was bleaching her skin because she looked lighter in tone. Watch (below):

We mean… she does look light here. But there are lots of reasons someone’s skin might look lighter. Makeup, lighting… Jumping to skin-bleaching seems a little harsh.

Well, it wasn’t a rumor Serena was going to let go unanswered. Now she’s slamming the speculation! While doing her makeup during an Instagram Live on Monday, the mom of two said:

“For you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin. There is a thing called sunlight and in that sunlight, you get different colors.”

When it comes to that viral video, she noted that she was only wearing “stage makeup” for her daughter’s play before adding:

“I’m calling you out on this because it is ridiculous. Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, she bleached her skin.’ I’m a dark, Black woman, and I love who I am, and I love how I look.”

Yes, girl! Serena went on to say that skin bleaching is “just not my thing.” However, despite saying all that she also wants everyone to know she doesn’t judge anyone who chooses to do that:

“If people do it, that’s their thing, and they have every opportunity and they should. I don’t judge, but you guys do. That’s what this world is about, and I stay in my lane — the non-judgy one and I keep it. But no, I actually don’t bleach my skin, so can we just kinda clear that up?”
