Man 'Created A Torture Chamber' For Women -- All The Horrifying Details

An Ohio man is going to spend the next half century behind bars after subjecting a woman to unspeakable crimes.

Shane Edward Hooper was arrested last year in Marion County after locals observed what appeared to be a struggle between him and an unnamed female. And thank goodness they called the cops, because what was uncovered was TRULY horrifying far worse than a domestic dispute.

According to a press release from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office on Facebook, prosecutor Ray Grogan revealed that in May of 2023, the 36-year-old “detained a female victim at her house.” Through June of the same year, he subjected her to “severe physical abuse resulting in broken bones, open wounds, and eight fractured ribs” in what was described as a “torture chamber.” Grogan wrote:

“Hooper escalated his control over the victim by nailing doors and windows shut to prevent her escape and used both a baseball bat and a metal chain as instruments of torture. In addition to physical abuse, Hooper subjected the victim to intense psychological terror, threatening to kill both her and her family.”

WHAT. THE. HELL.

But things all changed one day in early June when he attempted to move “the victim to another location” — that’s “where observant individuals recognized her distress and contacted law enforcement.” The Marion County Sheriff’s Office quickly acted in a joint effort with the Marion, Ohio Police Department and discovered the victim and arrested Hooper. The prosecutor revealed:

“The brave woman told us she had been praying for rescue and God answered her prayers.”

Thank goodness for those good samaritans who called the cops!

Hooper was charged with two counts each of rape, kidnapping, and felonious assault, and one count of strangulation. How completely evil. Last week, he was officially sentenced after a YEAR of litigation — to 50 to 55.5 years in prison!

Per Grogan, “the courtroom was filled with supporters of the victim, including law enforcement officers and family members”:

“Detective Katie Barber and Sheriff Matt Bayles provided impactful testimony, advocating for a stringent punishment reflective of the heinous nature of the crimes Hooper committed.”

How amazing to see the community rally behind this poor woman. Grogan noted after the sentencing:

“Shane Hooper created a torture chamber and trapped this woman in it. Now he’ll be trapped in prison for at least the next 50 years.”

As he should be! The prosecutor added:

“Some good citizens spoke up and their actions likely saved this woman’s life. That’s the Marion County spirit I know and love.”

We hope she is able to work through some of the horrors she faced.
