Former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman was hospitalized last night after an unspecified “medical emergency” at The Colony night club in Hollywood!
According to multiple sources, the footballer was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at around 9:30 for an alleged overdose of alcohol and drugs!
Witnesses at the club say Shawne looked as though he was going to pass out, and was “barely conscious” when an ambulance was called. He appears to have made a recovery, as he has been very active on Twitter this morning, although he DOES mention losing his shades, and having a shirt ruined, which may have been a result of his trip to the hospital.
A conflicting report, however, says he was spotted outside of The Colony around 12:30 the SAME night, and it even has video footage where he appears to be perfectly fine, AND he holds a conversation with the reporter!
The extent of the “medical emergency” is a bit unclear at the moment with these conflicting reports, but whatever the case may be, we hope Shawne makes a speedy recovery!
UPDATE: Shawne Merriman says he did NOT overdose on drugs last night at The Colony in Hollywood!
The former NFL bruiser says an ambulance was called for him, but it was simply because he was dehydrated:
“I didn’t feel well and they called the ambulance for me to make sure I was good… They told me to drink some fluids and sent me on my way.”
Shawne’s reps echoed his comments and said once they gave him his fluids he was able to return to his night of party, which would explain why he was spotted back at the club and sending out multiple Tweets later that night.
We’re DEFINITELY glad to hear the incident wasn’t as serious as we thought and that he’s doing much better now!
