Remember that famous “Hope” poster of President Barack Obama that made its debut around his 2008 presidential campaign?
Well, the artist who created it is now hopeless — at least with Obama, that is!
Shepard Fairey spoke to Esquire and ranted about Obama’s work in the White House.

When asked whether the Prez has lived up to the poster, Fairey told the mag “not even close,” and added:
“Obama has had a really tough time, but there have been a lot of things that he’s compromised on that I never would have expected. I mean, drones and domestic spying are the last things I would have thought [he’d support]. I’ve met Obama a few times, and I think Obama’s a quality human being, but I think that he finds himself in a position where your actions are largely dictated by things out of your control. I’m not giving him a pass for not being more courageous, but I do think the entire system needs an overhaul and taking money out of politics would be a really good first step.”
But wait — there’s more!
Fairey doesn’t just rant about Obama; he takes down the voting public, too:
“We also need a public that isn’t so uneducated and complacent. I hate to say Americans are ignorant and lazy, but a lot of them are ignorant and lazy… When you live in a place that has a lot of good things that make life easier, it’s easier to take them for granted.”
Sounds like the 45-year-old is railing against #FirstWorldProblems, too!
Complaints aside, Fairey has little room to criticize the public for being ignorant and uneducated; he was fined $250,000 in 2012 after he destroyed documents that hid the fact that he used an Associated Press photograph illegally for his iconic “Hope” poster.
