Shia LaBeouf Is Super Sorry For Being A Drunken 'Buffoon': 'I Fucked Up'

no title
Shia LaBeouf knows he fucked up.
The actor really had a go at himself in an apologetic interview for the April issue of Esquire — the first sit-down chat since his “mortifying” 2017 arrest in which he hurled racist expletives at police officers.

Looking back on the embarrassing controversy, which the 31-year-old called a cocktail of “white privilege and desperation and disaster,” LaBeouf admitted:

“What went on in Georgia was mortifying. White privilege and desperation and disaster… It came from a place of self-centered delusion… It was me trying to absolve myself of guilt for getting arrested. I fucked up.”

That he did!
For those who forgot, LaBeouf was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after going on a profanity-laced tirade while resisting arrest. The Transformers star then apologized for his behavior after footage of the sloppy incident was released online, revealing the full scope of his racially-charged douchebaggery.

To his credit, LaBeouf pulled no punches on himself in his Esquire interview, confessing his drunken outbursts were nothing to be proud of. Comparing himself to combative tennis legend John McEnroe, who he plays in the film Borg vs. McEnroe, he said:

“McEnroe was a master at his rage. I’m a buffoon. My public outbursts are failures. They’re not strategic. They’re a struggling motherfucker showing his ass in front of the world.”

It’s an ass we’ve seen quite a few times in recent years — but going forward, the actor is really trying to clean up his act:

“I’ve got to look at my failures in the face for a while. I need to take ownership of my shit and clean up my side of the street a bit before I can go out there and work again, so I’m trying to stay creative and learn from my mistakes├óΓé¼┬ª The truth is, in my desperation, I lost the plot.”

Sounds like he’s still recovering from those plotless Michael Bay films. We wish him the best!
