Simon Cowell Speaks Out After Major Surgery For Broken Back As AGT Continues Filming!

Simon Cowell has spoken out after his serious back injury and surgery

Simon Cowell is on the road to recovery — and he’s bringing his patented dry sense of humor with him!

The popular and tough America’s Got Talent judge took to social media on Sunday night, 24 hours after he severely injured himself while riding an electric bike at his Malibu home. As we previously reported, Cowell underwent emergency surgery overnight on Saturday after breaking his back in an accident while riding his new purchase.

Now, the 60-year-old talent evaluator and star-maker has some choice words for anybody who may be thinking about buying an electric bike for themselves: don’t be a hero, and read the instruction manual before hopping on for a ride!

On Sunday evening, while recovering from that marathon surgery that saw doctors insert a rod into his back to help with recovery, Simon took to Twitter to offer up some “good advice” to potential first-time riders, while also praising the doctors and nurses who’d worked so hard on his behalf the night before:

Read the manual before you ride… good advice, indeed! That gives us a clue into what Cowell apparently did not do, of course. From what we understand he’d been riding the bike on his Malibu property when something went wrong and he got seriously hurt. On Sunday afternoon, insiders confirmed he’d broken his back “in a number of places,” and insinuated the reality TV judge was “lucky” as things could’ve gone a lot worse, so we’re at least thankful he’s still with us to inject a little humor into this difficult situation!

Co-Stars Come Forward!

As news of Cowell’s serious accident emerged over the weekend, his fellow America’s Got Talent judges and co-stars quickly came out with a show of love and support for the longtime TV personality. Heidi KlumSofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel all sent Simon well wishes on social media, with Vergara and Klum both sharing the same picture of Simon’s open, unused chair ready and waiting for him upon his recovery and return.

“We miss our boss,” Sofia wrote, as Heidi added “wishing you a speedy recovery” to her own version of the same pic (below):

Awww! It’s just not right there without him, ya know?!

Mandel, Klum, and Vergara are currently filming for the AGT live rounds at Universal Studios in Hollywood. Vergara shared some shots from a tram as the group went through the JAWS ride at the park, joking that she was actually there to work despite all the fun it looked like they were having:

Ha!!!

Heidi took to her IG Stories for more about Simon specifically, at one point taking a selfie video in front of the reality TV mastermind’s trailer and noting how he couldn’t be there to judge with them on Sunday:

Awww…

Klum also shared a shot from the same tram as Vergara’s earlier post, but added a quick clip of Terry Crews sitting at a socially distanced space nearby, as well. So much star power even without Simon… but something doesn’t quite feel right in his absence, ya know?!

Across the pond, Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden also spoke out on social media about her longtime friend’s health and recovery. Sharing an old selfie she’d taken with Simon, Holden noted how she had “been thinking about my dear friend all day,” before sending her love to him, his longtime partner Lauren Silverman, and the couple’s six-year-old son Eric Cowell (below):

Very well said and touching!

Lots of sweet words pouring in for the AGT star and longtime reality TV competition show judge… and you can add ours on top of it!

Here’s hoping for a steady, full recovery for Cowell! May he one day get to use that e-bike again — successfully this time, of course — but beyond that, we’re sending our wishes for a full return to normal life soon for him, too!
