Barneys creative director Simon Doonan has got himself a new gig designing Halloween costumes for Target.
The eccentric designer, who was born on Hallows Eve, said “The holiday is huge and it├óΓé¼Γäós growing. That├óΓé¼Γäós why [Target] yodeled in yours truly.”
The collection, which Doonan dubbed Costume Couture, includes costumes with words like “Trick or Trend” and “Chic or Treat” printed on them.
So what was his inspiration?
Reality TV, which would explain his one shoulder dress inspired by the White House crasher Michaele Salahi.
Simon explains:

“People on reality TV get to be exhibitionists. I thought of The Situation and those boys from Jersey Shore when I did the T-shirt for the Pumpkin Punk Rocker costume.”

Pumpkins are orange, so we see the connection. Ha!
Doonan’s Costume Couture becomes available on Target’s website starting August 27th and in stores September 12th.
P.S. Wonder what he thinks about Target not correcting their $150,000 donation to an anti-gay candidate???
