Singer Electrocuted To Death After Hugging Fan In Horrific Freak Accident Onstage!

Brazil has lost a beloved musician in an unbelievably horrifying accident over the weekend.

Rocker Ayres Sasaki was performing a concert in Salinopolis on Saturday when one of his fans got the lucky opportunity to hug the singer. As he gave his fan a hug, though, he was killed instantly onstage in front of the whole crowd. The fan who hugged him was soaking wet, getting Ayres wet as well. And as the singer pulled away, he was electrocuted by a high-voltage cable that was onstage. He was only 35 years old. So, so tragic.

It’s unclear how the fan got wet — perhaps it may have been sweat, splashing himself with water to cool off in the Brazilian heat? Police aren’t sure, though, and are investigating the rocker’s death. His aunt Rita Matos spoke to local news outlets and explained the situation:

“What we know is that his show was scheduled for a specific time and was moved up, but we are contacting people who were with him at the moment to understand how everything happened. We will gather all the information in a statement that we will release to the press.”

Meanwhile, the venue where the concert was taking place — The Solar Hotel — released a statement about the incident:

“We are fully dedicated to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reaffirm our commitment to fully cooperating with the competent authorities for the proper clarification of the events.”

Ayres is survived by his wife Mariana. Sadly, they were still newlyweds, having just gotten married 11 months ago.

Since the accident, his friends have spoken out about what a good person and hard worker the singer was. Fellow musician Adriano Freitas told local media Ayres will be remembered as the “king of encores” — revealing he even once played a show for 12 hours straight:

“[He was] a super charismatic guy, his talent was incredible. He was the best singer and guitarist in Belem. A great friend, very family-oriented, attentive to his friendships, and to those who appreciated his work.”

Another pal of his, comedian Natto Almeida, told press:

“What will definitely stand out about Sasaki is his good heart, very polite. I think this will be the lasting mark he leaves behind.”

So sad! And far too young.

We’re sending love and light to his family and loved ones amid this tragedy. May Ayres rest in peace.
