This story is almost too CRAZY to believe!
A single mom of five in Missouri, Megan Bratten, had an awful scare when she discovered her van missing from a Kmart parking lot.
Even in the midst of her horror and confusion, the smart mama had the bright the idea to text her estranged husband’s cellphone, which was still in the stolen car.
After a few, uhm, not so nice texts, the mom got seriously real and desperate with the thief:
“Hey, you just stole a single mother of five’s work van. You are ruining my life here.”
Ugh, we can’t imagine the struggle of a single mom without transportation for herself and her kids!
Despite radio silence, Megan continued to plead:
“OMG car thief people can you just give me my van back! It would be epic, the miracle I need right now.”
We guess the thief was moved by Megan’s plea for a miracle, because he texted her back directions to the van!
The thief even sent Megan an apology text:
“I do feel bad…my kids needed a meal on the table so that’s what their dad did got them food. I know its wrong but it’s been so hard since I lost my job.”
While we don’t condone illegal behavior, we sympathize with the thief’s desperation and it appears Megan shares our sentiment because she decided not to press charges!
We’re so happy Megan has her van back and that everything worked out!
