Skinny Confidential Podcaster SLAMMED For Saying Pregnancy Is Easy -- And She Wants Everyone To Stop 'Fear-Mongering' About It!

‘Skinny Confidential' Podcaster Lauryn Bosstick Sparks Outrage Over Fertility Comments

This is a hot take! And it’s landed Lauryn Bosstick in hot water!

The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast host has come under fire for bashing the importance of sharing the challenges of pregnancy! As a mother of two, who is pregnant with her third child, she just doesn’t get why anyone wants or needs to hear about infertility or complications. She’d rather talk about how easy it all is! Yeah. That’s her stance. Wow…

In an episode of her podcast out last Thursday, which was also shared to TikTok, Lauryn told her guest Shannon Ford Middleton:

“I came out and said I got pregnant with all three of my kids on my first try, and the reason I said that is not to rub it in people’s faces. It’s to tell you that these stories exist. No one wants to talk about it because everyone’s f**king scared to say that — because they’re scared they’re gonna trigger someone.”

Seriously??

Isn’t that kind of like going around telling people how you won the lottery with your first ticket and therefore everyone should play the lottery all the time? First off, yes you are rubbing it in people’s faces… AND you’re giving people false expectations??

She added that if no one shares their “amazing stories” due to fear of upsetting others, “then all we’re going to get fed is […] fearful experiences.” Her guest agreed, dubbing it “fear-mongering.” Whoa. The 39-year-old entrepreneur doubled down:

“The reason I decided to come out and say that is because I want a 22-year-old who’s listening — who doesn’t wanna get pregnant until she’s 34 — to hear me talk about that and be like, ‘Okay I don’t need to worry. I don’t need to think about a miscarriage the second I get pregnant.’”

Uhhh, does she really think it’s that big of a problem? People are having babies all the time — it’s not hard to see all those success stories. Believe us, MOMMAS WILL TELL YOU ABOUT THEIR HEALTHY CHILDREN! But don’t those who struggle deserve to share their stories and find community in the difficult times too?

Also, shouldn’t women trying to get pregnant be informed about the health risks they could face — rather than find out in sometimes life-threatening situations?? What’s so wrong about being honest about all aspects of the experience? It’s only recently become more normal to be candid about the realities of pregnancy, after all.

It isn’t “fear-mongering” to tell people what to expect when they’re expecting. You ALWAYS tell someone the worst that could happen to prepare them. It’s common sense. If nothing goes wrong, they don’t need to be prepared for that. It’ll be a nice surprise. They’re not going to be angry that it was too easy and safe. Well, unless they’re insanely privileged podcasters with no real problems to complain about, we guess.

Clapping back at Lauryn’s decision to invalidate those who share their stories of heartbreaking and stressful hurdles along their pregnancy journey, TikTok users slammed the lifestyle blogger:

“The problem wasn’t that you said you got pregnant right away. It was that you implied that ‘believing you’ll get pregnant’ is all you need to do to get pregnant. That’s just simply not the case for everyone. Sincerely, all girls dealing with infertility.”

“I struggled to get pregnant for years, and I literally only heard people talk about how easy it was for them. Being open about infertility is actually a new thing because it used to be something women didn’t talk about. This is a bulls**t take”

“This doesn’t land at all.”

“This was a *unique* choice to share this.”

“WE KNOW THEY EXIST ITS ALL WE HEAR”

“How brave to finally stand up for all those who have never had to fight for their pregnancies”

“She has officially lost the plot”

“People dealing with infertility hear this stuff all the time! ‘oh I wasn’t even trying and got pregnant’ ‘just go on vacation and you’ll get pregnant’ ‘stop trying and it’ll happen’ ‘I can look at my husband and get pregnant’ like come on now”

“People getting pregnant right away is quite literally the only thing I hear. Online and in person. Makes me feel like I’m broken.”

“Every person you know and see in real life everyday got here through the miracle of childbirth. 8 billion success stories. Miscarriage on the other hand JUST started being destigmatized.. let’s not walk it back”

Preach!

Lauryn clearly doesn’t have the most popular take here. And it’s not hard to see why.

Y’all, if you’re super healthy, if you’re really good-looking, if you’re great at running or lifting weights or doing math… It’s OK to realize you’re above average. People assume they’re the norm — and therefore anyone in a worse position is just an idiot or a weakling or doing something wrong. But the truth is, if you’re great at, say, getting pregnant? It’s OK to say next time, “Hey, I’m really lucky and blessed and grateful everything was so easy for me.” Seriously. Give it a try.

But what do YOU think?? Sound OFF (below)!
