Ugh, we’re appalled by this most recent invasion of privacy.
Unfortunately for 200,000 Snapchat users, hackers were able to access private and explicit images through a third-party app, Snapsave. Snapsave allows Snapchat users to take screenshots of pictures which would otherwise expire. It’s important to note that Snapsave is NOT affiliated with Snapchat.

After the leak was reported, Snapchat released a statement saying:
“We can confirm that Snapchat’s servers were never breached and were not the source of these leaks. Snapchatters were victimized by their use of third party apps to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we explicitly prohibit in our terms of use precisely because they compromise our users’ security.”
Despite some users breaking the terms of use, it still doesn’t make it okay for hackers to take advantage of innocent people!
While the culprits behind the hack haven’t been caught, it’s widely suspected that the hackers are the same people who leaked(and continue to leak) the celebrity nudes.
When will these crimes finally stop?! The recent trend of exploiting one another has to END.
