Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi‘s kids’ reactions to her cancer diagnosis will break your hearts!
In February, the Jersey Shore star revealed that she had been diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer, specifically adenocarcinoma. Thankfully, her doctors caught it early. They now want her to undergo a hysterectomy to be safe rather than sorry.
Although the situation could’ve been a lot worse, it’s still scary, not only for Snooki but also for her family. Her kids, Lorenzo, 13, Giovanna, 11, and Angelo, 6, whom she shares with husband Jionni LaValle, are especially struggling with the news. While opening up about her diagnosis to Good Morning America on Thursday, the 38-year-old reality star shared:
“[My kids] keep asking, ‘Are you dying?’ And I’m like, ‘No, I’m not dying, I’m just sick. And I need to figure it out and then Mommy will be fine.’”

Oof! How heartbreaking! Her Jersey Shore co-stars weren’t any better, either! Snooki said they “were freaking out” when she told them she had cancer, adding:
“I consider them my brothers and sisters. I feel like us as a cast, we always said we’ll continue filming until we’re in a nursing home. It’s not over for us. … I’m so glad that [Jersey Shore] happened because I can’t picture my life as anything else.”
Jersey Shore: Family Vacation is ending with Season 8. Despite MTV saying goodbye to the crew, they all made it clear they aren’t over yet! They’ll eventually make their way back on camera. But until then, Snooki is using her platform on social media to raise awareness about cervical cancer:
“I feel like I need to share it because nobody talks about [cervical cancer]. I was terrified [when I found out]. I was hysterically crying in my car, like, ‘What am I gonna do? I have three kids. I gotta do my will.’ … I’m like, thinking about all these things.”
Nicole noted she was “putting off” her appointments, which she now regrets and wants to make sure no one else makes the same mistake:
“I didn’t like it. … I do [have a lot of regret]. Like, ‘Why were you so scared?’ Now we’re not putting off any more appointments.”
Well, sort of! Snooki still hasn’t scheduled her hysterectomy to remove her uterus, despite her doctors urging her to do so sooner rather than later! The television personality admitted she is “scared” to get the operation:
“I hate [the idea of getting a hysterectomy]. When he first said we have to do this or it’s gonna escalate to stage II — I know I’m done with kids, just knowing that you can’t, I don’t know, it made me feel like I’m not a mom. Even though I’m done.”
We’re sending so much strength and love to Snooki! Hopefully, she books that appointment soon! Watch Snooki’s vulnerable interview (below):
