We are so sorry for this tragic, unimaginable loss.
Snoop Dogg‘s 10-day-old grandson Kai Love, his 25-year-old son Corde Broadus‘ (inset) child, has sadly passed away, Corde announced on Thursday via Instagram. He wrote:
“Kai Love 9/15/19 – 9/25/19 ///// My Son Kai brought so much love and positivity into this world. His energy will live on and these 10 days of love will always be special to us. Let’s all cherish life and those we love while we are here. Thank you ?????♻️”

We can’t even imagine how the entire family must be reeling from this devastating tragedy.
A cause of death hasn’t been announced, although according to TMZ, the baby was reportedly in the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital when he passed. He was Corde’s second child with partner Soraya, with whom he also shares daughter Elleven, born in 2018. Corde also has a son named Zion, born in 2015, who he shares with ex Jessica Kyzer.
In his announcement of his infant son’s death, Corde posted a video of daughter Elleven kissing the baby as well as a photo of a dry-erase board with the little one’s name and date of passing, including the words “love + light”. However, he has since deleted the post.
You can see some of it as it was captured by The Shade Room (below):
Snoop’s wife, Shante Broadus, posted her own tribute to baby Kai, singing The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind) by the 1950s group The Dells (below).
Snoop himself has not yet commented on the loss, but honestly, it’s not like he has to do anything publicly. We all grieve differently and some prefer to do it in private. Corde’s partner Soraya’s Instagram page is set to private, but in her bio she has the caption:
“Gods miracle baby Kai????”
A loss like this is always incredibly hard to deal with. We can only imagine how joyfully the entire family anticipated the baby’s birth, but we also hope that the 10 short days they shared with him brought them happiness and no doubt filled their hearts with love. When the ones we love leave us, we miss them deeply, but we also always carry them in our hearts forever.
As the rapper’s son himself said, Kai’s “energy will live on and these 10 days of love will always be special to us.” It would do good to remember his words to “cherish life and those we love while we are here.” He’s only 25 but those are indeed wise and insightful words. We must all hold the ones we love close to us and cherish them every day. Tomorrow is never a guarantee.
RIP, little Kai.
