Following in the footsteps of successful rappers turned fashion designers, like Diddy and Russell Simmons, there’s a new guy entering the fashion biz.
And her name is Snoop!
The Dogg has just launched his own fashion label, Rich & Infamous, which he’ll be promoting in everything he does. Such as featuring the new line development on his reality TV show. Does anyone actually watch that show?
Snoop will also be promoting his line and brand on his CD packaging and products.
Oh, and unlike other artists turned designers, Snoop will actually be wearing his clothing, as will his entourage.
And, even crazier, he’s going to be putting on his own fashion shows. Snoop will host the fashion shows during his upcoming world concert tour.
The clothing will be a line of streetwear for men aged between 18-35. It’ll also feature accessories, grooming and home products.
His collection will be unveiled this week at the Magic fashion tradeshow in Las Vegas.
Robert Thorne is the CEO of the management firm Robert Thorne Co. who’s doing business with Snoop and also helped build Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen‘s billion-dollar business with clothing and several licensed merchandise.
Of Snoop’s new venture, Thorne says, “The Rich & Infamous brand is sculpted from Snoop Dogg’s trend-savvy classic vision.”
Thorne sees big bucks and long-term potential in Snoop. He says, “Big stars usually don’t spend a lot of time promoting the brand. This is no longer ‘I’m going to make a few extra bucks.’ Now it’s about ‘How am I going to make this about who I am and make this last a decade or two or more?’ ”
