The Scripps National Spelling Bee Champ Is Actually TWO Kids Because They Tied! Wait, How??

Looks like these judges just wanted to go home!
The Scripps National Spelling Bee ended in a tie on Thursday, for the first time in 52 years — which is ridiculous!!!
Contestants Sriram Hathwar, 14, and Ansun Sujoe, 13, both tied when Sriram spelled “corpsbruder├óΓé¼┬¥ wrong, and Asun misspelled ├óΓé¼┼ôantegropelos.├óΓé¼┬¥
Apparently, they both correctly spelled 12 words following their flubs, which made them the fourth co-champions ever!
We’re just confused because they only “nearly” used all of the words that they could have! !hy not go all of the way and find the true winner? You could EASILY dip into medical terms and find the real best speller!
Even without going that far, aren’t there a ton of words in this world?!
The good news is that even though the boys had to share the trophy on stage, each one of them will get over $33,000 in money and prizes! Also, Sriram had some very touching things to say, adding:

“The competition was against the dictionary, not against each other. I’m happy to share this trophy with him.”

We’re so proud of both of these teens, and all of the kids who participated! What an awesome accomplishment!
Still, we feel like spelling bee’s should keep going until SOMEONE wins officially!
Ch-ch-check out their winning moment (below)!
