Uh oh!!!
Spike Lee is seriously putting his foot in his mouth after accidentally retweeting the WRONG home address of George Zimmerman, the man who murdered 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
The address that Spike actually retweeted belonged to an elderly couple, who had to move into a hotel room for their safety because of the threats they were receiving!!!
Lee took to his Twitter last night to make right, saying:
“I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address. It Was a Mistake. Please Leave The McClain’s [sic] in Peace.”
The man who originally tweeted the McClain’s address over the weekend has also apologized for the error.
While we’re sure Spike’s initial intentions were to bring justice to the case, he should’ve double-checked before sending it out to over 250,000 followers!
Here’s a thought…maybe you shouldn’t tweet ANYONE’s address OR phone number…ever!
Take this as a lesson learned! LOLz.
