James Charles is NOT getting out of this one easily!
ICYMI, the TikTok star made a complete fool of himself in a now-deleted video where he ridiculously called out a woman for sharing her GoFundMe link with him. The social media user, named Amber Lendof Vargas, DM’d James and shared her fundraiser link after she lost her job in the Spirit Airlines shutdown. And for some reason, that made the makeup guru go OFF!
He completely blasted her in an obnoxious and privileged rant, mocking her for reaching out PRIVATELY. He told her to get another job, said her “f**k ass message” was useless because she was a “lazy piece of s**t” and “entitled” while making the wild assumption that she was not applying for new jobs. He also called her “white, pretty, and able-bodied” and said because she wasn’t a “fan” of his (he deduced that because she wasn’t a follower of his) that she didn’t deserve his help.

Just… completely uncalled for! In every way!
We mean, it’s ridiculous. Was he not sobbing his eyes out when he thought TikTok was going to shut down? This woman doesn’t have a social media career to fall back on! Plus, this was a DM he could’ve just ignored if it bothered him that bad. But instead he posted a condescending, degrading message to her… in public! While she’s already down on her luck!!
He said he sent the girl a DM after getting publicly slammed for his behavior, and offered a half-apology to his followers, calling his actions “privileged” and “stupid”.

But Amber is standing her ground! She posted her own video completely rejecting his apology — and bringing receipts! Se shared a screenshot, showing a message she says she received from James that read:
“I’m so sorry for adding to what was already a distressing time. I’m ashamed of myself, I’m so ashamed [not] only [of] the video, but also for being so disgustingly out of touch. Also, fully understand if you never want to hear from me again. I genuinely wish you all the best and hope you’re doing OK.”
But the former Spirit Airlines employee is not buying it! She said in her clip:
“Hell no! I do not accept his apology, especially because he was very public with what he said, and [he] thought it was OK to message me privately.”

She added in one of her captions:
“He apologized in private after embarrassing me publicly. Some damage doesn’t disappear just because you finally feel guilty. I heard the apology. I just don’t accept it.”

In an update video, she revealed several other creators reached out to her and made sure she was okay. She also said she wouldn’t be shutting down her GoFundMe, either.

So what now? James tried to apologize, Amber hit back, and so far the makeup influencer has stayed silent after that. But the controversy isn’t fizzling anytime soon! Because TikTok has taken it upon themselves to start a new trend with the audio from his original vid!
One creator shared a snippet of his horrible rant and asked their followers:
“If you follow him, can you please explain why? What is it about him? He just keeps doing dumb s**t over and over and over and people still continue to follow him. And I’m just not understanding.”

Another creator said in their video:
“All of this just because she asked for help? Instead of simply saying no, you chose to make an entire video humiliating and insulting her. You could’ve just declined and moved on.”

Another TikTok user showed a video of her struggling family who are struggling with the audio from his original rant playing in the background. She wrote:
“Hey James Charles… This was our last night in our apartment. My husband got furloughed from work, and we had to pack up our entire life and move in with his parents. My husband worked hard so I could stay home and raise our babies, and after losing his job, he applied to so many places just trying to provide for us again. Denial after denial. No callbacks. No opportunities.”
She continued:
“Sometimes people aren’t lazy. Sometimes life just falls apart unexpectedly. Kindness is free. You didn’t have to donate, but you also didn’t have to shame someone publicly for asking for help. It’s hard out here for a lot of people right now.”

Times are TOUGH! The last thing anyone needs is a rich man telling them anything about living in the struggle!
Now, another TikTok revealed James did indeed donate $5,000 to Amber’s GoFundMe… Which, honestly, was a good gesture. Everyone makes mistakes — some more jaw-dropping than others — but the damage is done in the court of public opinion. Especially with all the OTHER drama James has been in… How could he have ever thought any of this was okay?
