Stan Lee's Former Business Partner Arrested On Elder Abuse Charges

Stan Lee elder abuse charges

Stan Lee‘s former business partner has been arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona by police there, and charged with elder abuse — all this after a warrant out of Los Angeles was first issued for his arrest last week.
Keya Morgan was reportedly taken into custody on Saturday morning in the well-to-do eastern suburb of Phoenix, though how he was tracked and caught by police at that location at this point still remains unknown. He is reportedly in Scottsdale City Jail at this point, just hours after being picked up.

Originally, a judge in Los Angeles County had issued a warrant for Morgan’s arrest on five separate counts of elder abuse last week. The documents therein allege that the apparent misconduct took place at some point in June 2018, but interestingly, Lee himself was NOT named as one of the alleged victims.
Still, this comes as a big surprise considering Lee’s legal team filed a restraining order against Morgan back in July 2018 — just a month after the alleged abusive actions took place — alleging that Keya had mishandled more than $5 million of the Marvel legend’s money. Furthermore, the restraining order at the time alleged that Lee had suffered both physical and emotional injuries at the hands of Morgan, who we know by previous reports had been looking over the comic book legend at that exact time.
Morgan has long since denied the allegations against him regarding elder abuse, at one point calling it a “witch hunt” perpetrated by Stan Lee’s daughter and her lawyer “because she cannot stand the fact Stan likes me so much,” which is, uh, an interesting defense.
Regardless, that “witch hunt” has certainly turned significantly more serious for Morgan now that the warrant has been fulfilled by Scottsdale cops. We’ll see what, if anything, comes of this development for the Marvel legend’s estate, for Morgan, and for any/everyone else involved. For now, it just appears to be another big-time turn in the ongoing saga that took over much of the very end of Stan Lee’s otherwise incredible life.

As you’ll recall, of course, Lee passed away from heart failure this past November, leaving behind a truly incredible legacy in the world of comic books, film, and more broadly across the entire entertainment spectrum. He was 95 years old.
