Stassi Schroeder is opening up about a tough truth she’s had to face with her daughter.
The Vanderpump Rules alum sat down for an interview with Bustle on Thursday and got candid about the scars left behind from her turbulent battle with her mental health. The mental scars — and also the literal scars.

She confessed to the outlet that her 3-year-old daughter Hartford has in the past pointed out her self-harm scars — unknowing of what they truly are:
“When I look at myself naked, Hartford will see a little line, and she’ll be like, ‘Mommy, ouchie.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, God, that feels dirty. How will I ever explain to her that this was something that I chose?’”
That’s just so heartbreaking.
While Stassi, who also shares 1-year-old son Messer with husband Beau Clark, was never really open about her mental health battle during her time on VPR, she does open up in her new book You Can’t Have It All: The Basic B*tch Guide to Taking the Pressure Off. In it, the 36-year-old goes into detail about the extent of her self-harm, suicidal ideation, and even her addiction to Adderall. She told the outlet:
“It just feels like it’s been a secret, and I don’t like secrets. I think that’s part of maybe why I do what I do — podcasts, just living out loud. Because there is this feeling of: ‘I’m free. Everyone knows my s**t. I don’t have to hide anything.’”
