We still can’t believe Steve Irwin is gone.
Just two days before the tenth anniversary of Steve’s untimely death, his father Bob Irwin took to an Australian news outlet to share an emotional artifact from the adventurer’s brief life.

According to Bob, he accidentally discovered a touching note from Steve which he had written at age thirty-two. The sweet letter praised Mr. Irwin and the crocodile hunter’s mom, Lyn Irwin, for raising him so well.
Take a look at the moving message (below):

“Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a ‘Bloke’s Life’ is that it takes over 30 years to realize how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my HAPPINESS. At 32, I am finally starting to figure it out. In good times and in bad, you were there. Your strength and endurance to raise me will not go unrewarded. My love for you is my strength! For the rest of my life I will reflect on the unbelievably GREAT times we’ve shared and will continue to share. You’re my best friends!”

Wow, what a heart-wrenching letter. We can’t even begin imagine how bittersweet this note must be for Bob.
To make the find even more precious, S.I. had written “Please be happy to know that your strength and wisdom have been passed on,” on the envelope of the priceless gift.
As for Steve’s poppa, he’s doing the best he can to cope by releasing his memoir, The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father and Son Legacy on October 25. The book will chronicle his relationship with the late icon and his conservation efforts.
While Bob’s tribute is truly wonderful, he should maybe consider taking it a step further by reconnecting with the animal lover’s widow Terri Irwin and their two kids Bindi and Robert. Apparently the grandpa hasn’t spoken to his grandchildren in YEARS.
Anyway, will you end up buying Mr. Irwin’s book?
