Study Shows Some Cancers Related To Alcohol Consumption

A European study shows that almost 10% of all cancers in men and 3% in women in western Europe are caused by an abundance of alcohol consumption.

Out of 79,100 cases of certain types of cancers, including bowel and throat tumors, 50,400 of those cases were caused by people drinking more alcohol than the recommended limits.

Doctors say that the recommended limits should be two alcoholic drinks per day for men and one alcoholic drink per day for women.

One of the leaders of the study says, “Cancer cases would be prevented if people reduced their alcohol intake to below recommended guidelines or stopped drinking alcohol at all.”

Another researcher adds:

“It underlines that at the very least, it would be good to stay within the limits.

Many people believe it’s only a small group who drink more than the upper limits, but it’s becoming more of a problem because alcohol is cheap and available, so people drink more.”

Yikes.

This is super scary, especially for those who think they’re just “casual drinkers.”

As long as people remember to stay within the recommended limits of consumption, or even try to stay away from alcohol all together, then hopefully the rate of getting cancer will eventually drop.
