We have a reassuring update in the case of the tragic mother-daughter Burbank stabbing.
As we reported, the Burbank Police Department reported to a local neighborhood on Monday morning where they discovered mother Arti Varma and daughter Meera Varma fighting for their lives with stab wounds. They were transported to a hospital, but Arti sadly succumbed to her wounds.
Neighbors were shocked to hear of the brazen act of violence in their otherwise peaceful neighborhood, especially as no suspect had initially been captured. But that’s all changed now.

On Tuesday morning, Burbank Police announced suspect Sergio Fraire was detained on Monday night. The 30-year-old was apprehended by SWAT forces after being presented with a search warrant. According to police, evidence linking him to the stabbing was recovered at the residence from which he was detained, which was reportedly less than three miles away from the crime scene. Sergio was booked for murder and attempted murder as investigators work to uncover a possible motive.

As the community memorializes Arti after her tragic murder, one piece of hope has surfaced. While previously in critical condition, her daughter Meera has been listed as in stable condition as of Tuesday morning.
