So scary!!!
Workers from the The Ontario Feral Cat Project had their hands busy after a terrifying discovery was made in Oregon when a van was seized that was carrying 68 cats.
Five cats were found dead in the van… which only three litter boxes, and also had a stench that emitted a “horrifying” smell.
Some of the cats found were in very bad shape with many of the cats emaciated, and some who had lost one or two eyes due to awful eye infections.
Police officers found the cats after a tip came from an anonymous source that a woman named Cynthia Allen was hoarding cats.
And when volunteers and animal rescue officials came to help – they made the shocking discovery.
Here’s what Elizabeth Lyon of the Ontario Feral Cats Project said:
“It was just a swirling mass of cats around your feet. Every step I took down that center aisle, I had to wiggle my foot in so I didn’t step on somebody.”
Police are unsure of how long the woman had the cats, but it’s believed she was already in possession of the felines three months ago when she embarked on a trip from Oregon to Texas.
She had only recently returned.
Many of the cats are being treated for parasites and worms, but animal workers are hopeful that many of the cats will be up for adoption in the ensuing months.
The cats were extremely frightened but were also described as “tame.”
Here’s what Elizabeth Lyon said:
“We’ll be showing cats at the stores as soon as they are healthy enough to be shown.”
We can’t believe the awfulness of the situation, but we’re hopeful that many of these cats will be restored back to health and will soon be in happy homes.

At least they’re out of the awful situation they were in. We just can’t imagine how something like this happened in the first place.
