sxsw crash red river tragedy car kills two
The SXSW festival has been marred by tragedy this morning.
Just after 12:30 AM, a man drove his car into a crowd of people on Red River Street in Austin, TX. 23 people were injured, and so far two have been reported dead.
The large crowd was gathered in line to see the punk band X as part of South By Southwest festival.
Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said in a press conference held early this morning that the suspect, currently in custody, was being stopped for a DWI and tried to escape.
His car struck several people and vehicles and killed a couple driving a moped.
Chief Acevedo says the suspect will be charged with two counts of capital murder for those deaths.
So horrible.
