Sure, the latest sources say despite calling off their wedding after three years of being engaged (!!!) they haven’t thrown in the towel completely quite yet. But it kinda sounds like a fait accompli at this point, no? We mean, how many relationships backtrack from betrothal to boyfriend/girlfriend and survive? Not to mention girl deleted the most affectionate pic with him from her Instagram? Leaving the friendlier, less romantic ones? Super telling.
Seriously, we all should have seen this coming, apparently. Not just since the news earlier this year they delayed their wedding. The latest insider spilling on the couple’s issues tells People “things have been rocky for a long time.” Damn.

And based on what we’re hearing about the couple’s issues, it doesn’t sound like there’s a good compromise.
It’s not just the Glen Powell rumored showmance stuff, that’s like the tip of the iceberg. As a source told Us Weekly on Wednesday, it is “a tough dynamic for Jonathan” when everyone is watching her chemistry with male costars (the latest is her The Housemaid costar, It Ends With Us hunk Brandon Sklenar). But it’s so much more than that:
“A lot of their issues stem from Sydney being extremely busy with work commitments. She doesn’t have a lot of downtime, and it causes tension in their relationship. Sydney is really focused on her career. Jonathan wishes they were able to spend more quality time together.”
OK, so add that to the fact they first got together way back in 2018 — before she was a big star! Before Euphoria, before Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, before she was starting to be seen as the next big thing. At that time their dynamic was fine? But now that she’s a huge star in the highest demand, producing her own projects, living her dream… it’s not quite what he wanted from the relationship? He’s not willing to take a backseat on this rocket ship? Oof.
A guy not willing to be the supportive one in the relationship with a rising star? Yeah, we’ve seen this happen before, sadly. And it never ends with the guy realizing he threw away the best thing that ever happened to him either. Just sayin’.
