A cisgender woman in Florida claims she was fired from her job at Walmart after a man walked into the women’s restroom and angrily accused her of being transgender.
Dani Davis took to Facebook on Monday to share her experience and ask for advice about what to do next as this is her first experience being fired — and it’s under some terrible circumstances! She explained she’s been “working full-time at Wal-Mart for over 7 years” and that she “was born female” and identifies “as a woman.”

The thing she realizes makes her stand out? Her height, as she pointed out:
“I am tall. Really tall. I’m just shy of 6’4 and every inch is natural me.”
She’s tall. That’s it. And she was judged for it by yet another small-minded man…
Earlier this month, on March 14, Dani took a break and work and “went into the woman’s restroom at [her] job around 8 pm.” She was on her own — until she heard a chilling voice that freaked her out, she shared:
“I was alone in the restroom, locked in a stall and minding my own business, when suddenly I heard a man’s voice yelling INSIDE the restroom. It scared me.”
Horrifying! Anyone would be on edge if some man came screaming at them in the women’s restroom! She continued:
“I stopped what I was listening to so I could hear what he was saying. The voice was much louder than simply someone yelling in from the door.”
She determined “this man was fully IN the restroom” and “yelling” something about transgender folks, using the derogatory T-word slur, and talking about “how he was gonna ‘beat all those [p******]’ and ‘protect his wife/girlfriend from them.'” Mind you, the man was attacking someone in the woman’s bathroom!
He was so irrationally angry at the idea of a trans person going into the women’s restroom… that he, an actual man, went into the women’s restroom and harassed a woman. Proof once again these people don’t actually care about protecting anyone — their whole agenda is hate.
Meanwhile, “his wife/girlfriend was yelling ‘babe get out! Baby you gotta get out of here! Your gonna get in trouble.'” Dani went on:
“The entire time this is happening, I am in the stall. I honestly totally froze. I am not confrontational in the least and honestly… I didn’t know how dangerous he was. I was the only one in there so it seemed pretty clear that he saw me enter the restroom and he assumed that I am trans because of my height. It was terrifying and I wish no one else ever had an experience like that.”
The couple eventually left and while “the whole experience only lasted a few minutes,” Dani said it “felt like forever” and noted she “was extremely shaken and scared” as she waited and listened to see if he had left. She eventually washed her hands and left the restroom, and thankfully, they weren’t nearby.
She resumed her work, though her co-worker could tell something was wrong:
“I returned back to the department I’m currently assigned to. My immediate supervisor came by and noticed that I was visibly shaken and emotional. After taking a few moments to calm myself down, I told her what had happened. I didn’t go home since it wasn’t long until my shift was done (10pm).”
Not only was the customer seemingly never reprimanded — but Dani was the one who was punished! She lost her job! She wrote:
“Less than a week later, I was fired.”
WHAT?!
And their reasoning is just as shocking! The ex-employee wrote:
“The reason they gave for my termination was that I didn’t inform a salaried member of management of the incident and that not doing so posed a security risk. I did immediately inform my immediate supervisor but a team leader is not a salaried member of management. They fired me without giving me any paperwork or having me sign anything. They didn’t put it in writing – they asked for my vest, badge & work phone – and I left. Shook to the core. I just…. I don’t understand. I was the one followed into the bathroom and I was the one who felt threatened and unsafe…. so I get fired for it? Does this make sense to anyone? To me it sounds like they thought I was the security risk. Because of my height and someone’s ignorance mistaking me for something I’m not, I was now a security risk and they terminated me for it. I don’t know what to do or what I can do… I just feel so lost…”
That’s so f**ked up!!
That unhinged customer put HER safety at risk — and as a longtime employee, you’d think the company would have her back! But nope, she’s getting kicked to the curb. Make it make sense!
Speaking to PinkNews on Thursday, Dani said the firing “felt absolutely awful, hurtful, confusing and just heart-breaking,” elaborating:
“I worked hard and tried to treat everyone kindly. Being fired so suddenly felt like a stab in the back… and to be let go for being a security risk of all things was just them twisting the knife. Especially after what happened.”
Sadly, this isn’t the first time she’s faced hate in her state, sharing that she was recently pulled over by police for having a rainbow license plate. JFC. She expressed:
“I live in the south where bigotry is unfortunately part of daily life.”
So terrible. You can see her full post (below):
Back in November, Walmart got rid of its company equality policies amid pressure from the right-wing, who threatened to boycott them before Black Friday. Amid President Donald Trump‘s administration’s continued attacks against the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized groups, many other companies have done away with their DEI policies.
PinkNews reached out to get the outlet’s response to this upsetting story and they have not returned with a comment. We’ll be very curious to see if they say something about this…
