We are sending all of our love and strength to Tamar Braxton and her loved ones right now.
As reported, the singer was hospitalized on Thursday night after being found “unresponsive” by her boyfriend, David Adefeso (inset, bottom left), at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in downtown Los Angeles where they were staying. Now, more details are coming to light about her suspected suicide attempt, including a cryptic message she allegedly sent family members just before the incident.

According to an update from The Blast, Adefeso found Braxton knocked out cold in their hotel room and “shook” her several times getting her to open her eyes once, but then she remained unconscious. He then called 911 and continued to monitor his girlfriend’s vitals as well as search for signs of breathing and a pulse until paramedics arrived. She was rushed to the hospital, received treated for a “possible overdose,” and was placed under 24-hour watch. Adefeso told police that Braxton had been drinking and took prescription pills that earlier that night, though it was unclear how many.
Although law enforcement claimed they did not find a note in their initial report, the outlet learned that at some point before the incident, Tamar also allegedly drafted a tweet that was a never posted but instead sent to her family. The cryptic message (below) seemed to hint at the deep struggles she was facing:
“I am a slave. I do not own my life. My stories. My pictures. My thoughts or beliefs. I’ve asked my massa to free me. I’m threatened and punished for it. The only way I see out is death. I will choose that before I continue to love [sic] like this. Please help me (praying hands emoji).”
Wow. So incredibly chilling and sad to read those words.
Thankfully, the starlet’s boyfriend found her in the nick of time. Sources are telling the outlet she is in “stable condition” at the hospital and will remain there until further notice. A spokesperson for the Braxton family also shared this statement on their behalf:
“Tamar has had a very tough and emotional day — more information will be coming in the next few days. Please pray for her.”
A Hopeful Update!
In addition to the thoughts and prayers from her adoring fans, Tamar has the loving support of her pal NeNe Leakes (inset, top left) throughout this difficult time. On Friday, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star uploaded a pic of herself and Braxton, writing that she spoke to her earlier that day. She earnestly asked followers to pray for Tamar’s “strength” and recovery:
“When you are a strong person, you manage stress differently! People tend to judge the outside Strength on the inside abilities to cope! A lot of strong people cry in the dark and hurt alone.”
The reality TV star continued:
“I talk to Tamar often! Spoke to her yesterday and tried to pull her thru this moment. Spoke to her and David today! I say that to say this…check on your strong friends! Try not to judge so much! know that there are people being treated wrong for real and It’s really painful. I know Tamar is gonna get thru this but please pray for her strength ??”
